On July 5th, we drove to Draper to "test drive" what will be our home from August 17 - Sept 16, 2011. "The Forester" motorhome is 32' x 11' x 8.5' of lightweight steel and sex appeal: self-adjusting leveling jacks, two slide outs, automatic awnings, etc., all on a Ford F-450 chassis with a v-10 transmission.
After almost three hours of explaining every aspect of the coach, the owner required Jeff to take a driver's test to illustrate his competence on the road. He passed with flying colors...
Though we were deemed worthy to drive the owner's beloved RV 1700 miles, Allstate Insurance decided they may have a caveat: "The Forester" weighs in at 14k lbs and Allstate only provides insurance on vehicles up to 10k lbs. After a threat to change to Farmer's, Allstate came through with a "unique" plan to allow us insurance on the heavy vehicle.
